Abstract: In order to adapt the environment change of the wheat production in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze river, the test set the four late sowing dates with three replication, and grain yield traits, quality traits and starch pasting properties was detected and analyzed. The yield, quality traits and starch gelatinization characteristics of wheat cultivar ‘Yangmai20’ were researched on the different sowing dates. The result showed, as the sowing date delayed, the grain yield, 1000-grain weight, test weight and grain hardness index presented the declining trend significantly, and the highest value was on the optimum sowing date 11/4, and the lowest value was on the sowing date 11/25. However, the protein content, the wet gluten content, and the sedimentation value presented the rising trend. But a similar tendency of peak viscosity, hold viscosity and final viscosity of starch pasting property were found increasing firstly to the highest value and then declining. High yield and good quality of wheat could be achieved under the late planting condition for early sowing.
