Abstract: The aims of the study are to investigate the effects of host oyster age, nucleus implantation season and medicinal treatment of mantle tissue on pearl production by Pinctada maxima, and increase pearl production efficiency. The periods of recovery and pearl farming after nucleus implantation were 30 days and 18 months, respectively. Results showed that the effects of host oyster age, nucleus implantation season and medicinal treatment of mantle tissue on pearl production performance were significant (P<0.05). Pearl production performance was the highest for 2.0 year-old oyster and the lowest for 3.0 year-old oyster. The oysters having surgical treatment in April had the highest pearl production performance value while had the lowest value in July. And the highest pearl production performance was in medicinal treatment 1 (3% polyvinyl pyrrolidone and 0.02% aureomycin solution).
