Abstract: Selenium is an important element to animals, plants and microorganisms.Deficient or excessive supply of selenium will cause endemics, such as Keshan disease and large bone disease that may be caused by selenium deficiency.Currently,a large number of scholars conduct comprehensive and deep researches about the effectiveness of selenium in soil, the absorbtion and transportion of selenium in plants as well as its influencing factors. This paper summarizes the influences and the mechanisms of soil texture, pH, organic matter, the redox properties, the plant species, fertilization, soil parent material and the integrated pollution for the migration and transformation of selenium in soil - plant system. This paper describes the problems and deficiencies in current research and proposed the recommendations and advice and outlook for the in-depth study in the future.
