Abstract: A pot experiment was adopted to investigate the effects of nitrogen forms on growth and edible quality of Spinacia oleracer L. The total nitrogen concentration in nutrient solution was 15 mmol/L and 5 different kinds of ratios of NO3--N and NH4 -N (100?0,75?25,50?50,25?75 and 0?100) were designed, and indexes of growth and quality were determined, respectively. The results showed that NO3--N was superior to NH4 -N on growth of Spinacia oleracer L and Vc accumulation. Vc concentration decreased significantly after the addition of NH4 -N, but it had little effect on growth of Spinacia oleracer L, and remarkably decreased nitrite content in edible parts. The reasonable ratio of NO3-- N and NH4 - N was 50?50 for the growth of Spinacia oleracer L with high yield and low nitrate content.
