Abstract: China has abundant wild fruit tree resources. Scholars have paid much attention to medical resources in wild fruit trees which have inhibitory effects on cancer. In vivo or vitro anti-tumor experiments showed that extracts of some wild fruit trees, such as Ginkgo biloba, Akebia trifoliata, Gardenia jasminoides, Phyllanthus emblica, Maclura tricuspidata, Elaeagnus, had great effects on killing tumor cells. The results of these experiments also showed that anti-tumor mechanism might play an important role in improving body immune functions. We summarized the research progress of medical ingredients, inhibiting effects on tumor cells and anti-tumor mechanism of the above wild fruit tree species. The research could provide a reference for development and reasonable application of wild fruit trees’ medical value. Finally, we made an outlook on prevention and treatment of tumor by using medicinal-type wild fruit trees in the future.
