Abstract: The paper aims to study the effect of herb-rubber intercropping patterns on improving soil physical and chemical properties, and screen out the best intercropping pattern. Physical and chemical properties, such as soil water content, pH value, organic matter content, total N and available N were tested by soil physical and chemical analysis under three herb-rubber intercropping patterns. The results showed that the three different herb- rubber intercropping patterns had a significant influence on soil physical and chemical properties, especially soil organic matter content and total nitrogen content. PCA analysis showed that sharen-rubber and gegen-rubber intercropping patterns were the best herb-rubber intercropping patterns, which had an obvious improving effect on rubber soil physical and chemical properties.
