Abstract: Culturists and farms understand few about rational utilization of poplar leaves and pine needles as feedstuff, whose utilization in feed industry is not sufficient. The authors analyzed main nutritional component of poplar leaves and pine needles in April, July, September and October (early growth stage to leaf fall period) in 2007 in sandstorm area in Yulin. The results showed that the crude fiber content increased obviously with the growth, while crude protein content decreased, and the changes in crude fat, crude ash, calcium, phosphorus, organic matter, nitrogen-free extract and other compositions had no obvious regularity. In the same time, the change of crude fiber and crude protein of poplar leaves was obvious, while that of pine needles was steady. The results could provide data for the utilization of poplar leaves and pine needles as feedstuff, and references for their utilization.
