Abstract: To evaluate the resistance level of cowpea root rot fungus to prochloraz, and properly use prochloraz to control cowpea root rot, baseline sensitivity of prochloraz against 63 single spore Fusarium oxysporum isolated from cowpea in Sichuan was established with the mycelial growth inhibition method. The frequency distribution of theEC 50 values of the tested isolates was a unimodal curve, with the meanEC 50 value of (0.0063± 0.0028) mg/L. The sensitivity data could be utilized as a baseline for monitoring the shift of sensitivity in the cowpeaF. oxysporum isolates to prochloraz. Among the tested strains, 61.9% were susceptible strains, 38.1% were low-resistant strains, and no high- and mid-resistant strains were found. Therefore, as long as the field resistance monitoring is strengthened, prochloraz still can be used as a control agent for cowpea root rot in Sichuan.
