Abstract: we carried on cold pretreatment experiment during tomato anther culture to study the effect of cold pretreatment on microspores development during tomato anther culture in vitro. The results indicated that: Pathway B、A-V,and A-G, existed in androgenesis of tomato of which pathway B was predominent. Degeneration happened with some pollen; Cold pretreatment could delay degeneration of microspores to a certain extent and advance androgenesis; Cold pretreatment could also enhance the ratio of microspores participated in androgenesis, however pathway B increased greater than pathway A; In the early stage of culturing, cold pretreatment could increase the ratio of uninucleate microspores, which gave more chance for microspores to participate in androgenesis.
