Abstract: The resistance to Phytophthora capsici infection and the activities of cell wall hydrolytic enzyme has been studied. The behaviors of peppers to phytophthora blight are resisting mycelium spread. β-1,3-glucanase plays an active role in resisting mycelium spread. After the inoculation of phytophthora capsici, a significant increasing of the activities of β-1,3-glucanase in peppers is observed. There is much difference in speed and amount of β-1,3-glucanase at varieties with different levels of resistance to phytophthora capsici. The chinase activities are also increasing. But it plays a less role in resisting mycelium spread.
