Abstract: In order to study the effect of lactulose as substitute for antibiotic, this experiment had been carried on 25 newborn Holstein male calves which had been born by same passel youth cows from Australia in the same dairy farm. Calves had been divided into 5 groups (5 calves each group)conform to the born time. Unit group design had been used to make the certain additive of each calf in perinatal period(from firstborn to 15th day). Feed additives were: A: control group;B: aureomycin group, 10000 IU/d from 3rd day to 15th day; C: admixture group, lactulose & aureomycin; D: lactulose group, 10g/d one calf; E: lactulose group, 15g/d one claf. The results were as follows: Lactulose had no significantly effect(p>0.05) to immunity organ index, B&T lymphocyte quantity in the blood. From 24h, the lymphocyte conversion rate of lactulose groups were significantly more than control group and aureomycin group(p<0.01). Lactulose and aureomycin have coordination effect to promote conversion rate. Lactulose enhanced the content of CRP&IgG in the blood of calves. Aureomycin has coordination effect with the lactulose, but the promoted effect of aureomycin was inferior to lactulose.
