Abstract: The past ten years have seen the rapid development of agritourism in China, and the agritourism is growing as one of the pole industry in the society and economy of the countryside. It’s imperative to form the theory system to meet with practices on the agritourism. This paper analyses the history of the agritourism development. Furthermore, some agritourism scenes are being investigated. The agritourism is related with the resident income and consumption increasing, its status is changing constantly, and inherits many characteristics from sightseeing agriculture, endures spontaneity, independence and exploitation stages. In order to accelerating the sustainable development of the agritourism, it’s necessary to combine the agritourism with the travel agency sale promotion. Tourism associations can play big roles in the recreational agriculture. More products of the agritourism should be made. Service levels should be upgraded. Other measures include utilize modern science and technology, set up criterions and develop ecological agritourism.
