Abstract:

The wheat/cotton Circular Agriculture model, which has a long history in China, was developed from wheat/cotton intercropping system.. This research summarized the progress, typical model, and key technology involved in this system. The in-situ inspection and literature reviewing were employed in this research. The function of ecological system and inter-effects of multi-species in this intercropping system were analyzed as well through position experiment. The results indicated that the wheat/cotton Circular Agriculture model could perform the advantage of different crops and the border effect, and could keep biodiversity in the cotton field, maintain the balance of ecosystem, enhance land and natural resources usage efficiency without sacrificing the economic yield of cotton and wheat. Therefore, the wheat/cotton Circular Agriculture model can achieve higher ecological-economical values and has great potential in Chinese farming system.
