Abstract:

The result of Huanghuaihai waxy maize regional trials was analyzed from 2005 to 2008. It included seed quality, ear yield and diseases resistance of testing varieties. The progress, problems and developmental policies of waxy maize research were discussed or proposed. Yield evaluation showed that the amount of waxy corn varieties qualified for primary satandard was too less. The ear yield was between 10501~13500 kg/hm2, all less than 15000 kg/hm2. The tendency of waxy corn varieties infected by maize rough dwarf virus or smut was increasing. The waxy corn breeding in Huanghuaihai region should pay attention to waxy index, ear yield, resistance against maize rough dwarf virus or smut.
