Abstract:

n order to study the preference to six different colors in the light of high-pressure mercury lamp, so that to provide support to design a new kind of pest-trap technology. Count the number and the distribution of A. emma on each cloth after a balanced dispersion of which trapped ahead. A new definition, Preference Index, varied from 0 to 100, was used to value A. emma’s preference to cloth in different colors. The results suggested that A. emma had the strongest preference to yellow cloth, with the Preference Index of 47.10, which had significant difference (P<0.01) when compared with other colors; the green cloth got the second strongest Preference Index of 24.39, which was significantly different from the other four kinds of cloth. The lowest Preference Index came from the purple cloth. A. emma’s preference to six different colors significantly varies, thus providing the feasibility of designing a new kind of selectively pest-trap technology. By the way, the method used in this experiment provided an alternative method for the future research in this field, focusing on single species of phototaxis insect.
