Abstract: In order to select forage corn varieties suitable for planting in Anhui province, silage production and nutritional quality of ten corn cultivars were analyzed. Results showed that there were significant differences in silage production and nutritional quality among the ten varieties. The ‘Yucao 3’ and YA473182 had the highest and second highest silage production, respectively. Although the ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) content of YA473182 was slightly lower than that of ‘Yucao 3’, the lactic acid (LA) content of YA473182 was significantly higher than that of ‘Yucao 3’ and had better fermentation quality. The contents of water soluble carbohydrates (WSC) and crude protein (CP) of YA473182 were significantly higher than those of the other corn varieties. Additionally, the neutral detergent fiber (NDF) content and acid detergent fiber (ADF) content of YA473182 were relatively low in the corn varieties, indicating that it had better feeding value. To sum up, YA473182 and ‘Yucao 3’ were the most suitable for planting and spreading, followed by ‘Ruide 2’ and ‘Yuqing 3230’ in Anhui Province.
