Abstract: To investigate the effect of luffa stocks on yield and quality of balsam pears and optimize high quality luffa stocks for balsam pears, the competitive tests of main agronomic traits, yield and quality of balsam pears were made on the five self-fertile and 3 common used luffa stocks, and use‘CuiLv’as the cion. The results showed that different luffa stocks had different effect on the survival rate, first female flower position, as well as the withering disease rate. They also significantly impacted the yield of balsam pears. No significant variations were found on the content of water, Vc, protein, calcium, cellulose between 8 grafted balsam pears and self-rooted balsam pears. The amino acids evaluation indicated that the‘Stock-6’and‘Stock-14’were higher in most amino acids content than the self-rooted balsam pears. Overall, the‘Stock-6’(Silver Stock 1) and‘Stock-14’(Silver Stock 2) were recommended for summer-fall rootstocks on the balsam pears.
