Abstract: In order to know the host choosing habits and species distribution of leafhoppers in Xinyang area, the species and genetic relationship of the leafhoppers in four hosts were identified by anatomy identification in laboratory using genetic distance analysis of COI gene and Cytb gene. The results showed that the leafhoppers in tea plantation were mainly Empoasca onukii Matsuda. Empoasca sakaii Dworakowska was the dominant population in kenaf and peanut field, and Amrasca biguttula Ishida was also found in kenaf filed. There were mainly two kinds of leafhoppers, which were Empoasca kaicola Dworakowska and Singapora shinshana Matsumura, on peach trees. The genetic distance analysis of COI gene and Cytb gene showed that genetic relationship of the 3 kinds of green leafhoppers was close. Genetic distance of Singapora shinshana Matsumura was far away from others. The study of genetic relationship of five leafhoppers in different hosts on the molecular level provided reference for the further study of host transfer and species distribution of leafhoppers.
