Abstract:

In order to understand the purification effect of indigenous aquatic plant Euryale ferox on eutrophic rivers in rural areas along the Huai River, E. ferox were planted in simulated pools representing eutrophic river conditions in rural areas along the Huai River. The concentrations of total nitrogen (TN), ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N), total phosphorus (TP), chemical oxygen demand (CODCr), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and dissolved oxygen (DO) in the water were regularly monitored. A comprehensive analysis was conducted to assess the purification effect of E. ferox on eutrophic rivers. The results indicated that E. ferox, as indigenous aquatic plants in the Huai River region, exhibited a purification effect on eutrophic rivers. During the growth process, E. ferox could absorb 95.53%-98.45% of NH4+-N and 99.50%-99.65% of TP, demonstrating a favorable purification effect. However, the purification effect of E. ferox on TN and CODCr in eutrophic rivers was not significant. Additionally, the pH of the water increased by 11.05% to 11.61%, EC values increased by 21.12% to 22%, and DO increased by 3.82 to 21.77 times.
