Abstract:

A new strategy for controlling Cd pollution of agricultural products, the pollution safe cultivar (PSC), i.e. the low Cd uptake and accumulation cultivars cropping in the low Cd concentrations soil, was studied in this article. Twenty seven cultivars of Brassica chinensis were conducted with different concentration Cd soil in the pot study in the greenhouse. The result showed that the percentage of Cd content of edible part exceeded the national edible standard was 11.11% on the 0.516 mg/kg Cd soil. The percentage was 81.48% on the 1.113 mg/kg Cd soil, suggesting that Brassica chinensis was easily polluted by Cd. The Cd content of shoot of cultivar 6 (‘Bai Gen Bai Ye’), 11(‘Jing guang 1’), 19 (‘Gao Geng Bai’) and 20 (‘Qiu Tian Huo Zhi Qing’) was lower than the concentration of national edible standard, while the fresh weight of shoot did not reduce. These Brassica cultivars could be cropped in the light Cd pollution soil.
