Abstract:
The experiments were set up with ‘NC89’, the leading variety in middle Henan, 2009. To investigate the middle leaves length and the weight of per leaf of individual alkaloids and smoking quality and the relationship of leaf traits. Results showed that there existed positive correlation with leaf length and other leaf characters of middle and upper leaf except weight per area and leaf length of middle leaves had negative correlation .The appropriate ranges of middle and upper leaves length were 56-68 cm and 55-65 cm and with the length increased 3 cm the nicotine contents increased 2.80 mg/g and 1.67 mg/g. With the weight per leaf increased 2 g, the nicotine content increased 2.2 mg/g in the range of 8-16 g of middle leaves and with the weight per leaf increased 3 g, the nicotine contents increased 1.60 mg/g in the range of 9-21 g of upper leaves. Nicotine, nornicotine, anatabine and anabasine had the same change with the different leaf traits and the alkaloids content of middle and upper leaves had the same changes with the leaves length and weight per leaf change. The appropriate ranges of middle and upper leaves length were 53.01-68.99 and 59.01-65.99 cm, weight per leaf were 14.001-16.999 and 15.001-18.999 g had the better smoking quality.
