Abstract:

In order to explore antibacterial activity of Kadsura marmorata fruit in vitro. Kadsura marmorata which solved in petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, anhydrous ethanol and water in turn, was extracted 20 min by ultrasonic extraction, then 2 h with a hot reflux, respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of four extracts was detected against chicken E. coli, streptococcus suis and staphylococcus aureus with the microtubule-plate method. The results showed that extraction rates of organic solvent were 0.35%~5.50% and water was 51.2%. MIC of organic solvent extracts reached 0.44~34.08 mg/mL against chicken E. coli, streptococcus suis and staphylococcus aureus, while MIC of water extract was 204.63 mg/mL, 329.13 mg/mL,232.5 mg/mL against chicken E. coli, streptococcus suis and staphylococcus aureus respectively. This study indicated that the Kadsura marmorata fruit extraction of organic solvent had lower yield, but higher antibacterial activity elements than extraction of water. This study laid the foundation for clinical application and separation of antibacterial activity components from Kadsura marmorata.
