Abstract:
The paper aimed to evaluate the prevention and cure effects of phage on chicken colibacillosis through subcutaneous innoculation and air sac inoculation, respectively. The results showed that phage suspension used in the experiments was safe to chickens; air sac inoculation of 4×108 pfu phage suspension followed by attack of pathogenic E. coli after 12 h gained 10% of mortality, while the control group had 80% of mortality. The mortality of chickens through subcutaneous inoculation with the same dose of phage 3 h before infection declined from 80% to 40%. The results indicated that, air sac inoculation of phage could be more effective to control the infection of chicken colibacillosis.
