Abstract: Based on the interdependence of pig industry and food security, this study aimed to determine the extent of the coordinated development between the two aspects and look for ways to promote the development. Taking coordinate calculation method, this study built coordination degree index system between pig industry and food security, and analyzed coupled coordination between pig industry and food security. According to CCDPIFS, pig industry was divided into four modes and empirical test was carried out taking Heilongjiang Province as an example. The result showed that the pig industry of Heilongjiang Province was basically in a coordinated state. The competition and synergy between pig industry and food security in major grain producing areas could be efficiently measured, and serve as a basis for the adjustment of production practice. It was concluded that keeping food production, developing “non-food” diet, improving feed utilization and breeding mode selection could promote the coordination of pig industry and food industry.
