Abstract:

To optimize plant introduction and landscape allocation in the ecological garden city construction, a comprehensive evaluation system of 51 new perennial ground-cover plants in Wuhan was constructed with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, the ecological effects of cooling and humidification, carbon sequestration and oxygen releasing of these plants based on the calculated values were studied. The results showed that AHP method mainly focused on the length of green period, adaptability and ornamental effect of perennial ground-cover plants. The application values of 51 plant species were divided into 3 grades (16 spp. of I grade, 18 spp. of II grade and 17 spp. of III grade); Penstemon campanulatus, Limonium gmelinii, Coreopsis grandiflora had a relatively high ability of cooling and humidification, while Coreopsis grandiflora, Lavandula angustifolia, Lagerstroemia indica had a relatively high ability of carbon sequestration and oxygen releasing; plant species of AHP I grade had significantly higher carbon sequestration and oxygen releasing than those of AHP III grade. Taken together, the authors recommended that selecting plant species based on the AHP comprehensive evaluation, ecological effects and current habitat condition is beneficial for applying and popularizing the suitable ground-cover plants.
