Abstract: Culture methods of Carex giraldiana as one of the wild ground cover plants introduced from the mountainous area of Beijing were studied in this paper. Results shows that: (1) This plant can be propagated both by seeds and ramets. The preferable seeding time is Autumn and the rameting time is from March to a August. (2) Recommendable growing spacing in the rows is 30 cm×30cm and 3 plant in one bunch . (3) This plant is suitable for ornamental lawn, but not for the sport lawn as the trample resistant ability is weak. It is also a kind of good wild ground covering plant for the bio-slope-engineering that needn’t be pruned in maintenance.
