SNPs Detection of CS-1 Gene and Its Relationship with Carcass and Meat Quality Traits in Qinchuan Cattle

Abstract: 【Objective】This research was to detect the polymorphism in exon 3 of CS-1gene and its relationship with some carcass and meat quality traits of Qinchuan cattle.【Method】PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing methods were employed to reveal the polymorphism of exon 3 and its flanking within CS-1 gene in 485 Qinchuan cattle, and analysing its relationship with some carcass and meat quality traits of Qinchuan cattle;【RESULTS】C→A mutation in 191bp and C→T mutation in 201bp of CS-1 gene exon 3 were found. There were two allele gene A and C in this locus with the corresponding frequencies of 0.1381and 0.8619. Statistical analysis indicated that individuals with genotype AC had superior thickness of back fat and marbling (P<0.05) when compared those with genotype CC; As for the tenderness, animals of AA and AC genotype were more excellent than animals with genotype CC(P<0.05);【CONCLUSION】It suggested that this locus could be used as a molecular marker in Qinchuan cattle breeding for carcass and meat traits.
