Abstract:

Here five strains, isolated from the cadaver of corn borer and peach borer infected by Beauveria bassiana, were studied on virulence, growth, sporulation and germination. Two high virulent strains, B6 and B17, were obtained. The bioassay results showed that B6 and B17 had the high virulence on the corn borer with mortality of 95.4% and 90.8%, infected rate of 94.4% and 87.8%, median lethal concentration(LT50) of 4.4d and 4.7d at concentration of 108 spores/mL. The median lethal concentration(LC50)were 1.3×106 spores/mL and 2.8×106 spores/mL. The two strains had good biological characteristics too. Consequently, B6 and B17 strains have applied potentiality to control corn borer in future.
