Abstract: GC-MS method of detection for Clenbuterol Hydrochloride (CL) residues in swine urine was established and compared with the method of self-made strip (CL-Strip). The results showed that the detection limits of GC-MS and CL-Strip were 0.5ng/ml and 1.0ng/ml respectively. The detection results of CL added in samples were consistent completely. The detection results of 100 negative swine urine samples and 18 positive swine urine samples by CL-Strip method were agreed with GC/MS method analysis results. It can be concluded that the sensitivity, accuracy and stability of CL-Strip method were about at the same degree as GC-MS method, and CL-Strip method was recommended to be extended for its advantages in convenience, direct-viewing, rapidity, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.
