Abstract: Based on natural precipitation, soil moisture condition and water demanded in wheat growing stage, the effects of drought on growth and development of wheat in Kunming was analyzed. It can provide theoretical foundation for the drought prevention and drought reduction in wheat growth. Statistical analysis and agrometeorology method were used. The effect of drought on growth and development of wheat was serious. The growth periods were 9-26 days ahead of time except sowing to three leaves. During the main growing period (elongation-heading stage), serious water shortage resulted in plant short, effective tillering reduced and normally heading-grain filling hindered. The effect of drought on growth and development of wheat was serious. Based on the results, we provided some measures for defending and fighting drought.
