Abstract: Abstract: Because of their ultra-high water-absorption and water-retention,Super absorbent polymers have been widely used in various fields and will show more and more broad prospects in soilless cultivation.This article firstly reviewed the high water-absorption, water-retention and fertility preserving capability of super absorbent polymers;Secondly briefed their water absorbing mechanism;Then from the angle of culture media summarized their application conditions in soilless cultivation,inclued that they were used with other culture medium as water and fertilizer retention agent and alonely used as a kind of culture media—crystal mud；Finally the author offered several major developing directions to promote their application on a large scale in soilless cultivation.
