Research Progress on Influence Factors of Invivo Maternal Haploid Induction in Maize

Abstract: Maize haploid breeding technology can significantly shorten the breeding cycles, improve breeding efficiency and play an important role in modern commercial breeding process, and producing haploid with large scale and high efficiency is the pre-condition of this technology. This paper summarized the influence factors of inducers, maternal genetic background, induction environment and pollination methods, which affected maternal haploids production by invivo induction. Based on the comprehensive analysis of the literatures, the paternal inducers and other influence factors were found to be both important for the production of a large number of invivo maternal haploids. The future studies and outlook for induction of maternal haploid were summarized and discussed, in order to promote the wide application of haploid breeding technology in maize.
