Land Use Change and Its Effects on Ecosystem Service Value in Resource Province

Abstract: In order to study land use change and its effects on ecosystem service value in resource province, the author took land cover/use data (2000—2005—2010) and digital elevation model(DEM) as the basis, analyzed the change of ecosystem service value in Shanxi Province under land cover/use change through the method of remote sensing and GIS. The results showed that: (1) during 2000—2010, the main types of land use were woodland and farmland, accounting for over 65% of the total land use; (2) during 2000—2005, farmland contributed the most to other natural resources in land use change; during 2005—2010, grassland contributed the most to other natural resources in land use change; (3) farmland was the most active land use type, farmland and woodland showed an expansion trend between 2000 and 2010; (4) land use changes caused the regional eco-environmental effects. The total value of ecosystem service rose 10.01% during the ten years. The value of ecosystem service of grassland decreased the most by 78.81% , and that of woodland increased the most by 34.25%. The total value of ecosystem services was increasing in Shanxi Province, except the service value of waste treatment.
