Abstract: The paper aims to breed fine varieties of Macadamia suitable for cultivation in southwestern Guangxi in China, and investigate the relationship between agronomic traits and the yield. Correlation and path analysis of the agronomic traits of fruit were carried out by using 50 plants of different Macadamia varieties. The results showed that: (1) the skin fresh weight was significantly correlated with the shell weight and dry shell weight, indicating that the heavier the three traits were, the higher the Macadamia’s yield was; the kernel percent was significantly and positively correlated with the nut thickness, but was significantly and negatively correlated with the shell weight and dry shell weight, indicating that with the fruit size increase, more photosynthate would be distributed into the pod shell; (2) path analysis results showed that the single fresh shell weight had a positive effect on the kernel percent, the fresh shell weight had the biggest contribution to the fruit yield and the kernel percent; the increase of each standard unit in the fresh shell weight could result in the increase of the kernel percent by 0.5315 standard unit. The results suggested that the focus of Macadamia breeding should be per fruit weight and kernel percent per fruit.
