Abstract: The influence of cotton planting on agricultural non-point source pollution (ANSP) in Xinjiang was studied by binary Logistic regression model, in order to provide a scientific basis for decision-making to standardize cotton farmers’ behavior, improve agricultural material use efficiency and control and reduce ANSP. The results showed that the main influence factors on ANSP in Xinjiang included cotton farmers’ age, total household population, application amount of chemical fertilizer, pesticide and plastic film, cotton farmers’ participation in technical training, awareness of ANSP control, and willingness of using organic fertilizer and bio-pesticide with state subsidy. The suggestions included establishing and perfecting an effective agricultural technic promotion system, strengthening education and publicity, enhancing mulch film recycle, increasing subsidy to encourage the use of biological resources. All these measures could optimize cotton farmers’ production behavior, reduce ANSP and construct environment friendly agriculture.
