Effect of Different Packaging Materials on Quality of Wuyi Shuixian Tea

Abstract: This paper aims to provide certain theory references for an appropriate choice of packaging material for long- term storage of Wuyi Shuixian Tea. Wuyi Shuixian Tea, as the research object, was respectively packaged with porcelain pot, tin can, kraft paper bag and aluminum foil bag, and stored for one year at room temperature. Different effects of the above- mentioned packaging materials on Wuyi Shuixian Tea were analyzed through sensory evaluation and physicochemical indexes testing of samples every three month. According to sensory evaluation results and physicochemical index change, the order of influence from strong to weak on quality deterioration of Wuyi Shuixian Tea was kraft paper bag, aluminum foil bag, porcelain pot and tin can. In order to keep favorable sensory quality and minimize the change of physicochemical property, it was recommended to use tin can, porcelain pot and aluminum foil bag to pack and store Wuyi Shuixian Tea.
