The Synergistic Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Mannans by Mannanases

Abstract: Mannan is an important polysaccharide found in softwoods. Mannans from various sources display large differences in composition, structure and complexity. To hydrolysis mannans into monomer sugars requires a number of enzymes like mannanases, mannosidases and galactosidases working in synergy, but several studies have investigated the effect of the two or three. In order to explore the mechanism of mannanase synergistic hydrolysis of mannan, this paper stated mannans’ sources and its structure firstly. Then the sources, species, action mode of mannanase and product type were summarzied, especially the high efficiency of the synergistic enzymatic hydrolysis of mannans by mannanase. Finally, this paper prospected the research direction of process and mechanism of mannanase’s synergistic reaction, and provided the basis for the development and utilization of mannanase.
