Dry-hot Wind: Occurrence Characteristics and Its Impact on Yield in Winter Wheat Area of Southern Shanxi

Abstract: The paper aims to clarify the occurrence characteristics of dry-hot wind and its influence on wheat to adversity stress in the winter wheat area of southern Shanxi. Based on the occurrence days of dry-hot wind data in the 10 days respectively in early, middle and late May and the 10 days in early June and 11-15 of June and the wheat yield data from 1991 to 2016, the authors analyzed the occurrence characteristics and influence of dry-hot wind on local wheat yield by the SPSS software. The results showed that: dry-hot wind occurred frequently and seriously in the winter wheat area of southern Shanxi in different degrees every year at wheat filling stage, and the occurrence days ranged from 2 to 13; at the filling stage, the dry- hot wind had accumulative effect on wheat yield, and especially the dry-hot wind occurred in the early 10 days of June had relatively large effect on wheat yield.
