Abstract: The aim is to develop an analytical method for determining the atrazine, acetochlor and butachlor herbicides residues in maize by GC-FTD. The kernel samples of maize were extracted with acetonitrile, the extracts were cleaned up by neutral alumina column, and then determined by GC- FTD. The method was validated at three spike levels (0.01, 0.05, 0.5 mg/kg) in maize kernel. The average recoveries of atrazine, acetochlor and butachlor in maize kernel were 84%-105%, 81%-100%, 87%-103%, withRSD of 1.0%- 3.5%, 1.1%-5.2%, 3.7%-4.4%. Good linear correlation of atrazine, acetochlor and butachlor residues were found in the concentration range of 0.01-2.0 mg/L. The limits of detection were 0.005, 0.01, 0.01 mg/kg for atrazine, acetochlor and butachlor. This method is simple, sensitive and reliable. It can be used for the determination of atrazine, acetochlor and butachlor residues in maize.
