Abstract: The paper aims to provide a theoretical basis for resource conservation, improve variety selection and protect local resources of Toona ciliata in Hubei. Seven half-sib families of Enshi T. ciliata were taken as the study objects, and the seed germination rate, one-year seedling survival rate, growth traits such as seedling height, ground diameter and leaf character were analyzed. The results showed that the seed germination rate and the seedling survival rate were relatively low and had significant difference among the seven half-sib families. The average seed germination rate was 38%, the average seedling survival rate was 21%, and the XE-4 half-sib family had the highest of both. Seven indexes, including seedling height, ground diameter, crown width, branch number, leaf number, compound leaf number and fresh leaf weight, had significant difference among the seven half-sib families, and had a wide range of variation, with high heredity ability and stable inheritance. The ground diameter showed a positive correlation with crown width, leaf number, leaf fresh weight and leaf dry weight. By comprehensive consideration, three sib-families, XE-2, XE-4, XE-5, were selected as the superior family.
