Abstract:

Modified rectangular hyperbola model was used to fit the photosynthetic-light response curve of 22 introduced hybrid poplar clones in Ili, to clarify the photosynthetic and physiological characteristics, which could provide a reference for the selection of superior trees. The results showed that: the maximal photosynthetic potential of ‘LX-2’, ‘84-306’, ‘I-262’, ‘D5-20’, ‘D5-9’, ‘DX-08-1’ and ‘DM-9-16’ was strong. ‘CD-2’, ‘D5-20’, ‘D5-9’ and ‘93-8-17’ were more efficient in the conversion of light energy. ‘93-8-18’, ‘108’, ‘CL-6’and ‘LX-6’ had low dark respiration rate, which was beneficial to organic accumulation. The clones with stronger maximum photosynthetic potential were more adaptable to the high light environment in Ili. It is suggested that the clones with small photosynthetic potential should be domesticated for many years to make them as suitable as possible to the local environment and retain the germplasm resources.
