Selection of Sorghum Germplasm Resources with Long-rhizomes

Abstract: To Screen long-rhizomes sorghum germplasms with different blood and breed sorghum hybrids with high germination rate.The experiment selected 74 sorghum materials which included 36 Chinese sorghum materials, 26 American sorghum materials, 12 India sorghum materials. Measuring the length of hypocotyl and coleoptile after germination in dark condition. Result showed that hypocotyl’s and coleoptile’s length of Chinese sorghum varieties were significantly higher than American and India sorghum materials’s, and variation coefficient of hypocotyl length was significantly higher than the coleoptile length’s. Screening 12 Long-rhizomes sorghum sources by the clustering analysis. That included 9 Chinese materials (‘24517’,‘jinwu/Hc356 Sc499’,‘HM65/LE83472’, ‘huojiaohong1’,‘jinY11’,‘1383-2’,‘chi7788’,‘shenyuan 0-01’,‘sanchisan’), 2 American materials (‘Hc378B’, ‘LR287-2’ ), a India''s material (‘E565’).This provided the basis for breeding long-rhizomes sorghum hybrid.
