Determination of Trace Elements in Tea by ICP-AES

Abstract: In this paper, a method for the determination of various inorganic elements in tea was explored. The contents of nine elements, including P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in thirteen kinds of tea leaves were determined by inductively coupled plasma- atomic emission spectrometry (ICP- AES). Tea samples were digested by automated sample digestion. The results showed that linear correlation coefficient(R) of this method was from 0.996 to 0.999, and a relative standard deviation (RSD) was less than 5.0%. This method is simple, rapid and accurate. Therefore, this method can be used as the determination of trace elements in tea samples.
