Abstract:

Iron is an essential trace element in animals. Iron deficiency-induced anemia disease accounts for a large proportion in newborn animals. Iron deficiency anemia is a key link that affects the health of newborn animals and their genetic growth potential. Therefore, research on iron deficiency anemia is of great scientific significance to animal health. Hepcidin regulates iron center metabolism, participates in iron absorption and transport in the body, and regulates iron nutrition, it has important biological significance for maternal and fetal growth and iron metabolism in newborn animals. With the application and development of biological technology, more and more iron regulatory proteins have been identified in animals, but restricted by the maternal blood-fetal barrier and the mammary barrier, hepcidin's regulation mechanism of maternal-placental iron metabolism is still unclear. By reviewing relative researches about the regulation of hepcidin on iron metabolism of animal body and iron nutrition in pregnancy, the paper aims to provide new research directions for colleagues in this field.
