Abstract:

The heat-tolerance of 6 kinds of Crassulaceae succulent plants was studied. The relative electrical conductivity combined with Logistic equation was applied to evaluate their heat-tolerance after brief exposure to high temperature. Results indicated that the relative electrical conductivity of these tested Crassulaceae succulent plants increased gradually when the temperature rose. And the incidence of the relative electrical conductivity with temperature fitted into the curve of “S”. Semi-lethal temperature (LT50) of these tested plants ranged from 53.17℃ to 61.68℃. Based on LT50 values, the heat-tolerance of the six tested Crassulaceae succulent plants from high to low in sequence was Aeonium arboretum ‘Zwartkop’, Kalanchoe tetraphylla, Sempervivum tectorum ‘Oddity’, Echeveria ‘Rasberry Ice’, Cotyledon orbiculata ‘Oophylla’ and Sedum pachyphyllum ‘Rose’.

Key words: Crassulaceae, short-time high temperature, heat resistance, semi-lethal temperature, conductivity
