Abstract:

The study aims to explore the control effect of chicken in orchard on Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel), and to analyze the comprehensive economic benefit of ecological planting and breeding mode of chicken in orchard. From 2019 to 2020, the experiment of raising chickens in pear orchard was conducted in Guanyang County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for two consecutive years, and the experiment of treating insect damaged fruits with caged chickens was also carried out in 2020. The results showed that the damage of Bactrocera dorsalis to pear fruit was alleviated, and the control effect of orchard chickens on Bactrocera dorsalis was 25%. The effect of cage-rearing chickens on insect was remarkable, the rate of insect population decrease was 100%. The insect damaged fruits were fed to chickens, and chickens could completely and effectively eliminate Bactrocera dorsalis in orchard, proving that the measure was effective for killing pests and saving chicken feed. The preliminary analysis on the benefit of raising chicken in orchard showed that the net income could be increased by 21853 yuan per hectare through raising chicken in pear orchard. Therefore, raising chickens in orchard is a kind of green control measure for pests and a three-dimensional planting and raising mode, which could effectively reduce the use of pesticides, improve the economic benefit of planting and raising, and meet the demand for high-quality chicken meat. This pest control measure is worth promoting vigorously.
