Abstract:

In order to meet the urgent need of high-quality watermelon production, the compatibility of watermelon grafted with two rootstocks and its effect on yield were discussed. The growth dynamic changes and yield of different grafting combinations, including pumpkin rootstock grafting, wild watermelon intermediate stock grafting, pumpkin and wild watermelon double rootstock grafting, were studied in watermelon seedling stage. The results showed that the survival rate of watermelon treated with pumpkin and wild watermelon double rootstock grafting was 98.87%, which could significantly reduce the wound healing time, enhance the growth potential of scions, and had little impact on watermelon seedlings. At the same time, this grafting method can significantly improve the yield of watermelon, which is of great significance for the high-quality production of watermelon under continuous cropping soil conditions.
