A Preliminary Study on Comparative Experiment of Starch Sweet Potato Varieties in Datian County

Abstract:

In order to select new varieties of high starch sweet potato suitable for planting in Datian County of Fujian Province, nine varieties including ‘Longshu 24’, ‘Quanshu 9’, ‘Quanshu 19’, ‘Pushu 12’, ‘Rongshu 910’, ‘Jishu 25’, ‘Shangshu 19’, ‘Fushu 604’ and ‘Fushu806’ were introduced for comparative study, ‘Xiangshu 75-55’ was the control. The growth characteristics, agronomic characters and yield performance of these varieties were obtained and analyzed in 2022. The results showed that the fresh and dry tuberous root yield, starch yield of ‘Jishu 25’, ‘Shangshu 19’, ‘Quanshu 9’, and ‘Fushu 604’ were significantly higher than that of ‘Xiangshu 75-55’. These four varieties also had the characteristics of strong growth potential, fast ridge closure and excellent edible quality. These four sweet potato varieties could be promoted as starch varieties in Datian County.
