Abstract: Juema (Potentilla anserina L.) is a unique natural germplasm resource of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and also officinal and edible plant, which is planted widely in high altitude area. A combination of morphology and anatomy was employed to investitate the character of Juema(Potentilla anserina L.) and the connection with its existent environment, the result as follows: Juema is perennial herbage, the stolons cling to odd-pinnate leaf with floss in back, the root tuber figure is spindle, globosity or stick, and so on. More palisade mesophyll than spongy mesophyll was observed in microstructure of leaf, pith tissue and pidermic collenchyma are developed in the stem transverse section of the stolon, vascular tissue arrange tightly to form circuit shape like cylinder, the ratio of vascular tissue to ground tissue is less. Its root tuber has multilayer concentric circularity similar to “annual ring lines” at the initial stages of development, and grows and enriches at the same year. The morphology and anatomy characteristic of Juema is typical drought xero- structure.
