Abstract:

In recent years, more and more malting barley was imported into China, the connection between China’s barley market and global barley market is becoming more closed. This paper summarizes the main characteristics of global barley production and trade, analyses main malting barley exporter’s situation. The main researching results are as follows: barley export is concentrated in few countries, the leading exporters of malting barley are Australia, Canada, and European Union; as a result of concentrated market, international barley price is not stable; in the future, the competition between Chinese malting barley and imported malting barley will be over a long period of time, China should play important role in malting barley import market, and put more effort in improving domestic barley quality.
